Now this...is country livin'

It's September. How crazy is that? The term "time flies" is an understatement. I swear Summer just started?!

Anywho, I am finally posting some pics from our trip to my dad's.
Here's the low-down:
Dad lives far away.
But not too far to visit.
I have only been a couple times and feel SUPER guilty for that.
With time, I have decided that I NEED to get out there more often.
Jaiya needs it too.

So, Dustin and I whipped out the calender a couple months ago, and in a 16 week period, the only weekend we had off of work at the same time turned out to be in the middle of August. We let dad know, and he said it was go on their end as well. We were going. NO MATTER WHAT.

It was a quick trip. I worked that Friday til 5pm, so we packed up the car and hit the road by 6. We figured it made more sense to get their late, than to spend half of Saturday driving 5 hours, and then coming home Sunday.

Dad and Kathy live on a ranch between Wells, NV, and Twin Falls, ID. That's the best I can do as far as a location goes. Oh, actually, it's 22 miles on the dot from Wells. Dad even told me to clock it in the car so I'd know when to turn. So, once you've gone 22 miles away from civilization, you hang a right and go another 6 on a dirt road. This doesn't sound as treacherous as it is when in a Mazda 6. I laughed the entire time. We looked like a bunch of idiots. Dad met us at the highway so we didn't start heading off in some random direction, (which we would have, oh wait, we DID! Even with his help!) Turns out a big heavy truck does a lot better than a sedan, so we trailed behind a ways!

Dad was so excited for us to come. He always comes to Utah to see us, but for us to take the time to go out to his place means a lot. I just know it.

Jaiya was beside herself with all the room to play ( and by room, I mean, 1120 acres) and the fun things to do. We unfortunately don't have miniature horses hanging around to go on buggy rides like Papa Dugan! Our first night there Jaiya woke up to see Papa and she didn't leave his side until we forced her to go to bed.

-unfortunately I only got pics of the first day. My stupid camera battery died.

Look at this face...She was in seventh heaven...

Jaiya and Boon. They became friends in an instant. She loves doggies!

Jaiya jumped 80% of the time we were there. Madyson, Kathy's granddaughter came to play, as well as Rietta (a little girls who's dad works on the nearest ranch. The Wine Cup. Owned by the owners of Reebok.) ) and they all jumped til they couldn't jump anymore. Daddy and Mommy have decided we might need to invest in a trampoline this year.

Dad n Kathy's house.

priceless.

After this pic, dad got out the buggy and got one of the mini's to pull it. ( I have pics...coming soon) Nuisance is the Momma Mini and she bucked with Jaiya twice. Ha. Jaiya was nervous but she didn't even cry! Good thing Dust and I had her arms so she didn't fly off!

When we got to Dad and Kathy's Friday night, Kathy mentioned that Dad wanted to take us in to Elko for some "basque" style food. Basque? Hmmm...sure! Turns out, it's beyond good. Every single thing you get is delish. This is how it works: They sit you like banquet seating. Long rows of tables. They bring you out a BIG bowl of yummy soup with cabbage, tomatoes, celery, etc. It seriously looks like it is made just for you. They also give you a loaf of homemade bread. Then comes the salad... And then the sides, green beans, beans, spaghetti, etc. And then, you order your own meat, and that comes last. If you're a steak eater, it must be amazeballz cause Dust loved it. And if you like seafood, I had some yummy crab legs, and Kathy's lobster tail was SO SO good!
pretty good pic eh? I'm pro.

That night after dinner we went back to the house and some of the people who work on the Wine Cup came to visit and have drinks with dad and Kathy. It's so nice to just relax and visit. No work. No homework. NO HOUSEWORK. I love that I feel like I'm in a Western movie. I mean, I put make-up on and Dad says, "Oh you don't have to get all fancy here." Fancy huh? So the next morning, no make-up. Maybe next time I'll remember my boots though. I know dad was secretly laughing at my flip flops in God's Country. I mean, how stupid can I be? It's pretty much dirt, stickers, and poop, and I brought flip-flops?! I thought we were country folk, until this trip...;) At least Dust remembered tennis shoes. Much better than my version of outerwear.

I thought I better get a pic of dad before I left. His remarks after seeing this pic "I look like a wrinkly G#% D@&# rat!" ha.

And some random pics from the past couple weeks.

Jaiya loves salsa so much, she eats it by the bowl, with a spoon. Yum.

My only alone time with Jaiya in a week. Love my job, but miss my baby!
And the second one... I am back to my natural hair color, and it's so nice not to to have the up-keep of dying or bleaching...We'll see how long this lasts...;)

That's funny that she likes salsa so much! I'm surprised it's not too spicy for her! But if I remember correctly, you always like spicy things too. And you natural hair color is very pretty! You should keep it for a while!
